Philippians 2:5 exhorts the believer to “look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” As we care for and serve others, we are living in light of the Gospel. As we put the needs of others at the forefronts of our minds, we live as Jesus lived when he said “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Scripture reminds us that believers are all in “the body of Christ and individually members of it.” Because of this, God has uniquely given each one of us gifts, talents, and abilities to bless others. As you jump in to serve opportunities, you will be living out God’s will and plan for your life.

Romans 10:15 reminds us “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” Not only do we want to serve others by our deeds, but by the truth we proclaim as well. Regardless of where or how we serve, we take the truth of the Gospel message with us.

Galatians 6:9 calls to “not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” As we serve others we are not just doing something temporal - but eternal.
